BEFORE YOU SAY I DO :
LETS TALK SKIN CARE, How to get that Bridal Glow
By Sandz (@sandzmua)
Every bride’s dream is to look AMAZING on their wedding day. You spend a great amount of time online and social media looking through images of past brides for inspiration of how you want your makeup to look on the day.
However one thing you tend to neglect in the process is your skin.
For your makeup to look amazing on the day, you have to take the greatest care of your skin in months leading up to the wedding. Think of it like building a house, without a good foundation, the house will not stand, the same applies to makeup. Your skin is the foundation.
- Stay hydrated
Make water your best friend. Water keeps skin cells hydrated as well as plumping the skin cells up making them look less wrinkled. Water also it flushes impurities and toxins out of the system keeping your face fresh and clean and therefore aids in reducing the breakouts and acne. No matter what skin type you have, i.e oily, dry, and normal or combination, it still needs water. Hydration is key for that bridal glow.
- Follow a good skin care routine
Invest in skincare products that will help you look your best on your special day and everyday after that. Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer daily that is suitable for your skin type. If you are not sure what products are best for you visit a skincare specialist who will be able to advise you on the best products for your skin type.
- Deep Clean With a Mask
Masking is very essential to your skin care routine as it deeps cleans the skin. It is not meant to replace your daily routine but it enhances it. Use a clay based mask to deeply cleanse decongested pores at the same time absorbing excess oil. This is will help your skin look soft radiant and supple for the big day. If you have oily skin, it is recommended that you mask twice a week, dry skin/normal skin once a week.
- Maintain healthy eating habits
Now this is the time to stay away from any junk, unhealthy fast food, processed food and start following a more healthy diet. Not only will this be great for your skin but your dress will also thank you for it. Incorporate a lot of green vegetables, fruits and salads. Eat more spinach, avocados, cucumber, green apples, pears etc, as they have great antioxidants that will help your skin look radiant.
- Pamper Yourself
Your wedding is the perfect excuse for some extra pampering. Why not treat yourself to monthly facials in a spa to really refresh your skin. Experienced aestheticians will also massage your face to stimulate blood circulation and keep your skin looking healthy. You can also request extractions if you have more problematic skin. I recommend these monthly facials at least 6-12 months to your wedding. And if you can afford, keep treating yourself even after the wedding.
- Reduce stress
Yes it is easier said than done. After all you are planning one of the most important days of your life. However, stress has a direct impact on your skin, leading to break outs and dull dehydrated skin. Try yoga or your favourite form of exercise to relive stress.
Remember beauty start from within, take care of the inside and it will show on the outside. In other words, follow these simple suggestions and you will no doubt have that bridal glow on your big day.
